Abstract
"Motivational Interviewing's collaborative style and success with addiction treatment--especially compared to more conventional methods that emphasize confrontation, or at least directiveness--has made it a preferred approach in a range of helping professions. Even when the client is mandated (or, perhaps, especially when they are), we need a solid therapeutic alliance to make real progress. How do you move therapy forward when your client feels resistant to even being in the room? What if the client is a teen, and their presenting problems include substance use? In this new video, MI expert Sebastian Kaplan offers practical tools to help you manage challenging sessions with adolescent clients experiencing substance use--both issues related and seemingly unrelated to it. Here, you'll gain strategies for applying these skills in your own practice, and discover how MI can help you resist the understandable urge to advise or "fix" your clients. Kaplan outlines the key principles of MI, known as the "MI Spirit," and details each component alongside case vignettes. Covering OARS skills, the four MI processes, change and sustain talk, and "the righting reflex," Kaplan describes the method's collaborative, client-engaging nature. Then, four annotated sessions follow in which Kaplan and fellow MI trainer Ali Hall work with several teen clients. You'll see the method in action as the aforementioned skills are applied, with the result of deepening the working alliance, providing MI-compliant feedback, and evoking change talk. This video is invaluable for clinicians who want a primer on MI, effective strategies for adolescent therapy, or interventions for addiction and recovery. Be sure to take a look. By watching this video, you will: Get an overview of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and its application to adolescent substance use. Learn MI skills that support the therapeutic alliance and allow for client resistance. Discover helpful tools for working with your own internal responses to a client." - Supplied by publisher.

Abstract
"In this training video, UK-based mindfulness experts Tim Leighton and Devin Ashwood demonstrate key components of interpersonal group therapy with clients struggling with addictions. Based on the idea that relationships are undermined by addictive behavior, this model of recovery helps members gain interpersonal skills in real time. You'll see these theories in action, as members gradually deepen their capacity to share their stories, give and receive empathy, and navigate rifts in a recovery group therapy setting. By watching this video, you will learn about the theoretical underpinnings of interpersonal group therapy, and how they apply to clients in recovery; understand how to lead a group through an experiential process while supporting client autonomy; and gain tools for working with client resistance and challenging feedback. Intended for students and practitioners in clinical psychology, counseling, social work, and related health and educational professions." - Supplied by publisher.

"In this training video, mindfulness expert Devin Ashwood demonstrates two integral practices of an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) course in a live group recovery setting. By watching this video, you will understand the theoretical underpinnings of MBRP, and how they apply to clients in recovery; learn how to lead the practices of the "body scan" and "walking down the street"; and discover key skills for leading a mindfulness-based group inquiry. Abstract
"In this training video, mindfulness expert Devin Ashwood demonstrates the core practices of an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) course in a live group recovery setting. Based on the idea that people tend to relapse when they're feeling something they don't want to feel, Ashwood illustrates how MBRP can support clients' ability to identify, observe, and diffuse challenging internal states. MBRP researcher Dr. Sarah Bowen provides a detailed introduction to the method. By watching this video, you will understand the theoretical underpinnings of MBRP, and how they apply to clients in recovery; learn how to lead the practices of "urge surfing," the "mountain meditation," the "SOBER breathing space," and more; and discover key skills for leading a mindfulness-based group inquiry. Intended for students and practitioners in clinical psychology, counseling, social work, human resources, and related professions." - Supplied by publisher.

Abstract
"In this training video, Wayne Skinner, MSW, and Clive Chamberlain, MD, present a didactic overview of Motivational Interviewing's core tenets and techniques. The clinicians begin by covering the method's four guiding principles, along with providing insightful statistics on the prevalence of concurrent disorders. Affirming that concurrent cases aren't as marginal as we tend to think, they go on to present key MI techniques to build an alliance with and engage Bert, who presents as angry, withdrawn, and ambivalent though desperate to see his kids. While emphasizing a positive therapeutic alliance, "rolling with resistance," and building "change talk," Skinner and Chamberlain illustrate the goals of MI and help Bert make tangible progress. By watching this video, you will understand the theoretical foundations of MI, including its guiding principles and spirit of the method; learn how to support clients struggling with concurrent addiction and mental health issues, including when to consult; and discover ways to incorporate empathic reflection, developing discrepancies, and change talk into your client work. Intended for students and practitioners in clinical psychology, counseling, social work, and related health professions." - Supplied by publisher.
